Did you know- older women are the fastest growing cohort facing homelessness – many are sleeping rough, in their cars or couch surfing, with no permanent address or place to call home. Most of these women are living in extreme poverty.
How is Elevate Residential helping and how can I get involved?
Elevate Residential’s Project 55 is all about raising funds to sponsor older women in dire housing need into safe and secure, affordable housing, through our charitable partner BHC, an experienced community housing provider in Brisbane.
Through Project 55 we have a target of attracting 55 new property managements to the campaign, with all profits from management fees directly sponsoring safe and secure accommodation for women aged 55+ who are at risk of homelessness. It’s a chance to support those who need it the most, just by switching your property management to Elevate.
With your support, our sponsorship will increase rental affordability and provide a personalised package of supports for each resident, enabling a wider variety of women aged 55+ in dire housing need to access safe and affordable housing at the property.
What affordable homes will be available for older women?
BHC’s 11-unit complex in New Farm has been recently refurbished. This property, in Brisbane’s inner city, close to all the amenities of New Farm, provides a safe and affordable home exclusively for women aged 55+ who are at risk of homelessness.
Residents will benefit from the opportunity to establish connections to the community, put down roots and start to feel optimistic again about their future.
